Everyone has been crazy about marble prints for around three years. The whole Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest and any social network you may think of is plagued with flat-lay images picturing white marble and peonies. Marble is one of the most versatile and beautiful materials in the earth, and humanity knows this since forever. Obviously, nobody needs to be notified of this as there is nothing new under the sun, but there are revisitations of objects and new uses of the marble stamp.

Marble is synonym of cleanliness, purity, nature and at the same time, luxury and sophistication. It will always be there. Yes, even in your afterlife, or better, even after every single Kardashian in the phase of the earth has ceased to have an instagram account.

There are obviously some controversial uses of the noble material but let’s just talk about the nice ones. During the past days, I, MP, was crashing at my Abuelita’s. It is a grand surrounded by a super nice garden full of palm trees, gingkoes, bushes, pine trees and I have lost count of the other tree species that my Abuelita has given a home here to. The stone paths lead to a house in the shade where she lives with her 81 years young, together with her brother, who is 89 and knows how to work a computer better than anyone I know.  Since before I can even hold a recollection about it, I admire everything over here, and I want to steal half (like every grand-daughter around, pretty generic I know). But now that I am slowly decorating my house I also want to steal furniture from her, and that is when I realized  that she is up to the top of objects, countertops, and whole furniture pieces made from marble in different kinds, sorts and cuts. With the help of Gala that aided me to retouch the photos so they could look arty and not like being taken by a food-poisoned toddler, I give you: the house of the One & Only, Abuelita.
